At the age of 17, Jay started a web design business that has grown into a full-service digital marketing agency. 2024 makes 25 years in business, growing from a few thousand dollars as a teen to a multi-million dollar agency that he manages with less than 30 hours per week.

He is also the author of the book Building a Business that Lasts and host of a podcast by the same title where he's interviewed over 100 business owners who each have a decade or more of experience.

Jay’s passion outside of the agency is his family and church life. He has been married to his wife Claire for over 20 years and together they have 5 teenagers. Jay is passionate about helping other agency owners and leaders build a business without being stressed out, worn out, and ready to quit.

Cassie Shea

3 years experience running executive operations/HR at agencies and digital media companies, including as Managing Director scaling one company from $30M to $40M in one year. 7 years experience coaching founders and CEOs as a strategic growth advisor at the intersection of process, people, and profit -- working with founders at orgs doing $250k/year to $90M ARR.

Led trainings from LA to London for scaling companies to “never fire; never promote” team members again using the VisionPath program. She would describe herself as a focus holder for visionaries to experience exponential growth. Outside of work, she loves dancing swing and salsa, believes the 1970s is the best musical decade, and cooking and baking as much food as she can give away to friends and family.

I genuinely love what I do. From building teams to coaching, encouraging, and helping people navigate the ups and downs of business and life, I love helping people see that there’s more in and outside of work. 

I’ve always felt like I was born with a love for building new businesses and launching products. My resilience, problem-solving, and passion for new challenges helped me pay my way through college as a one-man DJ company, built technology and creative teams for startups, developed and launched a national beverage product, founded a marketing agency in 2015, doubled revenue yearly, and sold it in late 2023.

Now, as an agency coach and Managing Director at Hawke Media, my favorite task is to cheer on others — whether it’s employees, other entrepreneurs, fellow agency owners, or clients — and I’ve loved almost 😉 every second of it.
